If your vehicle was involved in an accident that was the other party’s fault you may be entitled to diminished value.
Diminished value is caused when the value of your vehicle becomes lower due to the stigma of the accident, the accident being listed on your vehicle Carfax report, or the quality of repairs that were completed.
We can review your case and determine if your vehicle sustained diminished value.
If we determine that there is possible diminished value you can choose to have us complete a full report with supporting documentation in a pdf packet that can be submitted to the other party’s insurance company to request the diminished value amount.
Usually the insurance company will take one of the following approaches.
Pay the diminished value amount listed on our report.
Negotiate the diminished value amount.
Deny the diminished value request. If the insurance company denies the diminished value request the next step would be to file a claim in small claims court of the diminished value listed on the report.
Insurance companies will often deny claims due to a lack of supporting documentation, shop related diminished value, or a prior loss to the vehicle that we were not informed of.
Diminished value only occurs after the first loss, unless the previous loss was extremely minor and there is an estimate to support the severity of the prior loss.
